When Do We Collect Information?

We collect information from you when you subscribe to a newsletter, register on our site, or enter information on our site.

Keeping our clients' data secure is an absolute top priority at My Help Grid. Our goal is to provide a secure environment, while also being mindful of application performance and the overall user experience.

End-to-End Security

My Help Grid is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure, providing end-to-end security and privacy features built in. Our team takes additional proactive measures to ensure a secure infrastructure environment. We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, which provides enterprise-grade security.

Application Security

All My Help Grid web application communications are encrypted over 256 bit SSL, which cannot be viewed by a third party and is the same level of encryption used by banks and financial institutions. All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Supabase is utilized to provide a secure and robust authentication system to users.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless we provide you with advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: When you choose to share service provider recommendations with your community
  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors who help us operate the Service (see Subprocessors)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

6. Third Party Links

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our website. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

7. Analytics and Advertising

We along with third-party vendors, such as Google use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers together to understand behavior of users on our website.

Opting Out

Users can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt out page or permanently using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on.

8. Do Not Track Signals

We honor do not track signals and do not track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place. We do not allow third party behavioral tracking.

9. Your Rights

We agree to the following:

  • Users can visit our site anonymously
  • Our Privacy Policy link includes the word 'Privacy', and can be easily be found on our home page
  • Users will be notified of any privacy policy changes via email
  • Users are able to change their personal information through Account Settings
  • Access: Request access to your personal information
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Delete your account directly from Account Settings. See Section 10 for details on what data is retained.
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: Opt out of certain data processing activities

10. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.

What Is Removed

Upon deletion, the following personal information is permanently removed:

  • Personal information (email address, phone number, name, and avatar)
  • Account preferences and notification settings
  • Private notes and ratings

Your authentication records are also deleted from our authentication provider.

What Is Retained in Anonymized Form

Certain content you contributed is retained in anonymized form and can no longer be attributed to you:

  • Reviews: Attributed to "Deleted User" to preserve community trust data
  • Supplier Business Profiles: Set to unclaimed so another representative can manage them
  • Portfolio Projects: Retained as part of the supplier profile record

This content is retained because it has community value and is no longer personally identifiable after anonymization.

11. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under 13, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online. We do not specifically market to children under 13.

12. Fair Information Practices

The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe.

In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur: We will notify the users via email within 7 business days. We also agree to the individual redress principle, which requires that individuals have a right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law.

13. CAN-SPAM Act

The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.

We collect your email address in order to:

  • Send information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions
  • Process orders and to send information and updates pertaining to orders
  • Market to our mailing list or continue to send emails to our clients after the original transaction has occurred

To be in accordance with CAN-SPAM we agree to the following:

  • NOT use false, or misleading subjects or email addresses
  • Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way
  • Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters
  • Monitor third party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used
  • Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly
  • Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email

If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, you can email us at privacy@myhelpgrid.com and we will promptly remove you from ALL correspondence.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
